Latest News

The Cheese World Museum has special displays that are rotated on a regular basis providing the visitor with something different to see each time they visit.

NEW EXHIBIT

Turn of the Century Dairy.

Over many months our Museum volunteers have collected old weathered timber and rusty tin sheets to provide them with the authentic materials to recreate an early milking bale.

It shows exactly how the cows were milked at the turn of the century.

The display features the first mechanical milking machine surrounded by the other items that were used in what would have been considered a state of the art milking shed.

They have collected an early milk cooler, which was used before refrigeration to cool the milk, separators for removing the cream from the milk, old hinges and hooks and even a three legged milking stool.

This exhibit is testimonial to the hard working pioneering families of the district.

The Museum is open during the Cheese World trading hours and admission is free.

Awards

In the 2010 Dairy Industry Association Dairy Product Competitions our factory collected three major national awards.

These awards included the coveted Chr Hansen Cup and Trophy which recognises the highest scoring cheddar cheese and the Tetra Pak Perpetual Trophy for the highest aggregate score for cheddar cheese.

Our Pepper and Garlic cheese was named the best flavoured cheese in Victoria, the cheddar won the Kraft Perpetual Shield and Trophy and we won the J Sharkey Memorial Trophy for the best vintage cheddar.

The company's milk brand Sungold fresh milk was acknowledged as the best in Victoria by taking out the DIAA Victoria Milk award.

Recently, the Cheese World Museum received a commendation award in the 2010 ABC National Regional Museum Awards.
